Coventry University students spend £145million in the city, according to research showing how much the university is worth to Coventry.

The new research analyses the economic impact of the university by looking at job creation, student and staff spending and graduate success.

One in 25 jobs in Coventry is supported by the university

– And one in every 46 jobs in the city is with the Coventry University Group

More than £145million is spent in the city by full-time students from outside of Coventry

– Student spending brings in an extra 1,500 jobs to the local economy

– A further £8million is injected into the local economy as a result of family and friends visiting students

– And those visits also support a further 240 jobs

– Employees of the university inject more than £82million into the UK economy , of which £37.7million , almost half, is retained in the city

– Across the country, the university supports 12,200 jobs

– It contributes almost £800million in annual gross value added to the UK economy
